Company History
Municipal Engineering Services Company, P.A. was formed in 1978 by Jimmy D. Woodie, PE, PLS. The company was based on providing SERVICE to clients, whether it meant helping with the operation of a water or wastewater treatment plant or designing a municipal solid waste landfill.
Even though our name is "Municipal Engineering" and we serve a large local government client base (counties and municipalities); we also serve a large private client base of commercial and residential developers. Additionally, our client list includes state and federal government agencies, universities, industries and much more....
Municipal Engineering began with three employees and one location. We now have three locations fully staffed with professionals who have degrees in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, and Geology.
Municipal Engineering Services has engineers licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado, Ohio, and Michigan. We have land surveyors licensed in North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and West Virginia.
In 1984 a branch office was opened in Boone, North Carolina which allows us to serve the western portion of the State more efficiently. Several years after opening the Boone office, we expanded again so we could be in close proximity to our coastal clients and projects; hence, the beginning of the Municipal Engineering Services in Morehead City in 1999.
